FIBROMYALGIA:
Fibromyalgia is not just a psychological issue or something imaginary: it is a real, profound and complex condition.
It is an alteration in the form in which the nervous system, the body and the energetic system therefore respond to the stimuli.
Over time, the shadows of sensitivity diminish: what was previously tolerated easily begins to be perceived as pain, tension and agony.
In terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Masunaga-style Shiatsu, we now observe an organism that has vividly spent time in a state of constant adaptation: the Qi (vital energy) becomes more fluid, the meridians become vacant or congested, and the system enters a state of constant alertness.
Nowadays, fibromyalgia doesn’t appear suddenly. This is the result of years of accumulated load: prolonged stress, repressed emotions, duels, intense relationships, illnesses, physical or emotional traumas.
Initially, the body compensates, if it maintains strength, it resists, but when the overload exceeds its capacity for self-regulation, it changes its behavior.
This is when generalized pain, profound fatigue, hypersensitivity, insomnia, mental confusion, stiffness and a feeling of internal heaviness may appear.
They are not symptoms in any case, they are different manifestations of the same underlying problem: a system that cannot escape you from the way of survival.
In Masunaga-style Shiatsu, we do not work “against the symptom”: we educate the body in its entirety.
We observe energetic balances, the relationship between the meridians, posture, breathing, emotional experiences and the quality of contact.
Through treatment, the system can gradually recover the feeling of safety.
Breathing expands, tension decreases and the body ceases to play constantly.
Many people report a reduction in pain, fewer painful episodes, a deeper feeling of sleep, greater mental clarity and, above all, a feeling that has left the wings for a long time: finally, a feeling of relief.
There is no “milagrous cure”, but there is a real possibility of freeing the body from its constant state of alertness and finding more space, more energy and greater quality of life.

THE PHRENIC NERVE:
The point between breathing and emotion…
The phrenic nerve originates in the scalp and is linked to the diaphragm, the large respiratory muscle.
Every breath passes through there too, but in the body’s work and the oriental vision, the diaphragm is more than a simple anatomical structure: it is an umbral, the point where we harbor our pain, control, repressed emotions and mental anguish.
When breathing becomes difficult, the person at the table also becomes tense.
In Masunaga-style Shiatsu, the body is not seen “in fragments”, but like a red of meridians, deep emotions and functions that are communicated together.
The diaphragm is connected to the flow of Qi, our vital energy: if breathing is blocked, something inside our interior must flow…
Work on the neck, on the chest, on the breathing and the deep tensions means, above all, creating space, not only in the muscles, but also in the person.
Sometimes, more free breathing is also an emotion that finally frees itself. The body clings to what the mind intends to control: breathing is usually the first to reveal it.

TRAUMA RELEASE:
Work in a office, drive a lot and spend a lot of time on the sofa. Due to the stress it constantly expands, your digestion is slow and you feel a constant and dull anxiety in your stomach.
You give yourself a good massage, but nothing changes. The pain of the shoulder is rare and often limited to the shoulder: usually it originates in the front part of the body.
Keep the most important and emotional muscle of your entire body tied like a maple cord: the psoas muscle.
In the ancient tradition of Taoist yoga, the psoas is known as “the muscle of the soul”.
Biomechanically, it is the only muscle that directly connects the spines (the femur) with the vertebral column, specifically with the lumbar vertebrae.
The path of the “fight or flight” :
When the whole day passes, this large muscle contracts and shortens. Standing up, this shortened muscle pulls relentlessly from the vertebral column forward, compressing the lumbar discs.
But the problem is not just physical: it is also neurological.
The psoas is extremely connected to the diaphragm and the nervous system of survival. When an animal (or a human being)he gets scared, the first instinct of “fight or flight”, is brought up in the fetal position to protect the internal organs, and the psoas contracts violently.
If you live in a state of chronic stress, you can never relax at all; physically retains tension, cortisol and anxiety in your contraceptive fibers. You cannot escape the stress only with your thoughts: you must physically release the tension accumulated in the muscular fibers.
Our advice:
The release of tension in the Anjaneyasana Yoga posture.
To “release the steel cable”, perform this Yoga posture, known as the deep lunge or Low Lunge. Roll it up, lift the right foot forward and let it drop the free wheel to the ground, just behind the drop.
Keeping your torso upright, make sure that your weight pushes your body down and forward. You will feel an intense and stinging stretch on the front part of the body and the tightened muscles: this is the psoas.
Nervous System Breathing: Maintain this posture for two consecutive minutes with your body on your feet, breathing deeply into your abdomen. By allowing the muscle to widen, it helps to release accumulated tension and stiffness. Some people can experience intense emotions, spontaneous tears or a great feeling of lightness after stretching this muscle, which can help release years of biological tension accumulated in the years.
