Gallbladder Point GB40:
GB40 (Solemn Hill) – Origin point of the gallbladder meridian.
It is located anterior and inferior to the lateral malleolus, in a small valley between the tendons, like a door that opens to the step you dare not take.
More precisely, it is located below the outside of the ankle, almost hidden, in that depression you feel when you flex your foot.
A point that reflects the fragility of twists, the moment you bend and then decide whether to stand up again.
What it treats:
• Blockages in the ankle, swelling, sprains;
• Pain in the lateral area along the gallbladder meridian: hips, legs, shoulders;
• Muscle and joint tension;
• Headaches due to excess Yang (especially lateral); • Nervousness, frustration, difficulty making decisions.
Its psychosomatic meaning:
GB40 is the voice of all those postponed decisions, of the crossroads in life where you were afraid to stray, of the moments when you were left halfway.
When this point is painful or blocked, it often indicates an internal conflict:
• “I’d like to go, but I can’t.”
• “I know I have to change, but I don’t know how.”
It is the point that accompanies those who are willing to recognize their own path, even when that path is yet to be invented.
GB40 is a hill that gives way, but doesn’t crumble.

REN MAI 4 – The Gate of Origin
Guanyuán – 関元
There is a point, in the silence of the womb, that holds a secret.
A place where everything begins and to which everything can return.
It is called Ren Mai 4 and is the Gate of Origin.
Where it is located:
Three fingers below the navel, in the center of the body, on the midline.
It is the energetic heart of the womb, a crossroads of primordial forces: here the Conception Vessel meets the ancestral energy we receive at birth.
What it represents:
Ren Mai 4 is the deep well from which life springs. It is the place of original Qi (Yuan Qi), our purest reserve of energy, that which is neither created nor destroyed, but is consumed every time we live too far from ourselves.
It’s the center of fertility, creativity, and grounding.
But it’s also the body’s refuge when everything falters, when the mind is overwhelmed, the heart is tired, the outside world is too much… this is where you can return.
