Hypertension:
Blood pressure doesn’t rise “by chance.”
It rises when something inside us puts too much pressure on us, when energy accumulates without finding a real space to flow.
High blood pressure can be related to:
• prolonged stress;
• chronic muscle tension;
• fatigue of the heart and blood vessels;
• an inflammatory diet;
• irregular sleep;
• excess adrenaline;
• repressed emotions.
The body seeks balance… and when it doesn’t find it, its pressure increases.
Hypertension is often related to excessively high Yang energy.
The most affected meridians are:
-Liver: when anger won’t leave you, when control becomes a cage, when you no longer have anywhere to “bow your head and rest.”
-Heart: when emotion is too strong, too fast, too intense to contain.
-Kidney: when fear exhausts you, the body compensates by pushing harder.
The result?
Energy accumulates, it doesn’t dissipate, it doesn’t take root. And blood pressure rises.
High blood pressure often indicates:
• excessively heavy burdens;
• crushing responsibilities;
• emotions repressed for too long;
• the need to keep everything under control;
• overthinking;
• lack of balance;
• fear of collapsing;
• a heart that beats faster than life.
It’s a body saying:
“I’m going too fast for what I truly feel.”
In Shiatsu, we treat what helps to release, ground, and calm:
– Liver 3 (Tai Chong): Reduces excess energy, releases internal tension, and calms deep irritation.
– Heart 7 (Shen Men): Regulates heart rate and emotions.
– Pericardium 6 (Nei Guan): Diverts energy from the chest, calms anxiety, and frees the breath.
– Kidney 1 (Yong Quan): Grounds and returns energy when it rises too high.
– Bladder (dorsal and lumbar paravertebral area): To release tension in the spine and restore fluidity.
-Diaphragm: Because without breath there is no regulation, and without regulation there is no balance. High blood pressure is not just a number; it is an internal impulse that needs to be heard, a rhythm that wants to slow down, a heart that demands space, not speed.
Healing begins when energy finds a place to flow again, when you breathe again, when you stop holding it in, when you let go.

PHYSOGNOMICS AND THE ART OF ENERGY DIAGNOSIS:
The body speaks, and those who know how to observe can interpret an extraordinarily accurate map of a person’s energy state.
Through physiognomy and clinical observation, it is possible to identify:
-Deep energy imbalances;
-States of cold and heat;
-Excess or deficiency of Yin and Yang;
-Chronic organ fatigue, with an understanding of the level of deficiency, whether due to internal or external causes;
-Problems related to the Blood or the deepest Essences;
-The different qualities of Qi and its circulation; -Constitutional predominance, diathesis.
ASSESSMENT TOOLS:
The face, with its wrinkles and complexion, reveals a person’s energetic history. The tongue reveals the state of the internal organs. Posture communicates blockages and deep tensions.
Palpation of sensitive points, both visceral and dorsal, becomes a true diagnostic map.
Meridian therapy observes the states of fullness, deficiency, and stasis in each pathway, which are precisely associated with organ/meridian function and psycho-emotional predisposition.
The initial consultation provides valuable information about the person’s life trajectory and recurring patterns.
Neuromuscular testing allows for real-time evaluation of the nervous system’s response, while observation, in light of Polyvagal Theory, integrates the traditional energetic perspective, with modern neurophysiological knowledge.
The psychosomatic herbal medicine program is a time for self-observation of the current situation.
AN INTEGRATED VISION:
Every sign, every symptom, every bodily response, contributes to creating a complete and accurate picture of the individual’s energetic state. It’s not about isolated diagnoses, but rather a holistic approach that respects the complexity of the human being.
The true art lies in knowing how to integrate all these elements into a precise and personalized energetic diagnosis, which becomes the foundation of an effective and profound treatment.
I am pleased to share with my students the tools I have acquired over 30 years.
