Shiatsu and Spring :
Shiatsu in spring can be very helpful in promoting a sense of renewal and vitality, as spring is often associated with new beginnings and changes. In particular, Shiatsu can be beneficial for the liver and gall bladder, which are the organs associated with the wood element in traditional Chinese medicine.
The wood element represents movement, growth and change, so during the spring, we can work on these aspects through Shiatsu. It is useful to work on the liver and gall bladder meridians, to help release stagnant energy and promote the free flow of Qi, the life force. This helps to reduce muscle tension and tendon problems, while promoting a sense of relaxation and new energy.
Furthermore, working on the liver and gall bladder meridians can promote greater mental flexibility, favoring a broader and more open vision to change. This can help you make more conscious decisions and face challenges more effectively.

THE KIDNEY MERIDIAN AND THE PSYCHE :
When the life principle of your kidneys is well developed, you are, more than anything else, authentic. You know who you are, and you know what you are. You know yourself. You accept and embrace yourself, with all your strengths and weaknesses, all your shortcomings and all your talents. You therefore don’t have to play-act; you don’t need to pretend or dis-semble. You can afford to leave the game of superficiality and mask-wearing behind. You do what you need to do, you live your life, you’re at peace with yourself, whatever others may think about you. This leads to credibility and sincerity, which also manifests in your posture. You have a straight spine, you’re certainly not spineless, you can back up yourself. In TCM, the kidney meridian also supports the spine. If we are insecure and full of self-doubt we tend to bend over backwards and be subservient in order to please others and to make sure our head is kept below the parapet. We pretend to be something we are not, because we fear not being accepted, of being caught up in a conflict or arousing opposition. Rather, we genuflect in front of both ourselves and life; a weakness in the life principle of our kidney meridian.
Authentic people express their views clearly and directly because they don’t depend on the confirmation of others. They call a spade a spade without attributing any value to it. They have an opinion and stand by it without getting cold feet. A strongly evolved kidney meridian doesn’t require pretentiousness or showmanship. It can afford to be simple and natural. It follows its path with the aim to release its potential. This path can take it to the limits of rules and norms. Should societal conventions get in the way of their development, assertive kidneys will remain on course owing to their strength to weather difficulties. Rather than following trends, the opinions of others, or temporary fads, they remain true to their principles.
