Yin and Yang :
Yin/Yang has always been discussed in terms of opposition, that is, placing a certain phenomenon opposite its direct opposite. Contradiction means that a phenomenon can be prevented by its opposite: water extinguishes fire, light annihilates shadow, etc.
However, antagonism is one side of the coin because the two poles interpenetrate to the point of becoming complementary. Water would be useless without fire, and vice versa. Water is necessary to extinguish fire (heat), and fire to give movement and life to water, so a plant can only germinate with the help of heat (Yang) and moisture (Yin). The health of man or any animal or plant organism is nothing other than the fruit of Yin/Yang balance, or the balanced “nutrition” of the law of polarity specific to each. Man is complete with his opposite, woman, and together they can give rise to another life.
In isolation, neither can generate life: man is opposed to woman, but they cannot exist individually. Above would not exist without below, and vice versa; right without left; light without darkness, and so on. Everything completes itself to constitute the whole.

Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang
In each organ, we can distinguish a Yin and a Yang aspect, but for the Kidneys, we speak more specifically of Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang, as they constitute the basis of all Yin and Yang in an individual. The terms Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang refer to general, all-encompassing aspects.
Kidney Yin is composed of Kidney Jing and Kidney Water, while Kidney Yang is composed of Kidney Yuan Qi and Kidney Fire.
Kidney Yin is the basis of birth, development, and reproduction; it “nourishes and moistens,” meaning that it nourishes Zang Fu, all the energetic and physical structures of the body, and also provides their proper level of moisture. Kidney Yang, on the other hand, provides heat, the activating force of Yin matter.
Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang are deeply interrelated: Kidney Yin provides the material basis for the activities of Kidney Yang, and this generates the driving force necessary for all activities, both of the kidneys and of the body as a whole.
Therefore, they form a pair in which a deficiency in one leads, over time, not to an excess, but to a deficiency in the other. At first, a deficiency in one component will result in signs of a relative excess of the other, then a deficiency in both will occur.
