Liao Points:
Liao Points – The Thresholds of the Sacrum
There are points that are not simply anatomical areas.
They are portals, ancestral thresholds, through which the body’s memory and lineage pass.
The Liao points, located in the sacral foramen (BL31-BL34), are not just nervous structures or energy decompression points.
They are the keys to the sacred, where life enters and exits.
They are linked to birth, conception, symbolic death, and regeneration.
Location:
– BL31: first sacral foramen;
– BL32: second sacral foramen;
– BL33: third sacral foramen;
– BL34: fourth sacral foramen.
They are all located along the first internal branch of the Urinary Bladder Meridian, closely related to the pelvic nervous system, uterus, ovaries, prostate, bladder and rectum.
These points connect with the Kidney (the root of Yin and Yang), with original sexuality, the ancestral force of Jing.
Treating them awakens a memory older than the body: the one that precedes speech, the one that remains imprinted in the deep tissues, ligaments, and bones.
In Chinese medicine, these points are said to:
– harmonize the uterus;
– regulate menstruation;
– promote fertility;
– unblock the pelvis;
– calm the Shen when it is deeply affected.
They are essential in cases of:
– dysmenorrhea;
– functional infertility;
– sacral and lumbar pain;
– emotional trauma rooted in the lower abdomen.
Treating the Liao is like entering a sacred, intimate, and powerful space.
It requires respect, presence, and a supportive, non-judgmental hand.
Contraindications:
Avoid these points during the first trimester of pregnancy and whenever you feel your body is not ready to open that threshold.

Stomach Point 36:
Called Zusanli, it is the path where earth meets heaven (Stomach 36).
There are points that speak to the body, and others that speak to the soul.
Stomach 36, Zusanli, is one of them.
Its name means “Three Miles of Foot”: because ancient travelers, when they grew tired, would push it to find the strength to continue another five kilometers.
It was also used by messengers and warriors in ancient China.
It is located a few centimeters below the kneecap, to one side of the tibia, in a slight depression: almost a portal, rather than a point.
A portal that invites us to descend to the depths of our roots, while elevating us toward a serene and nourishing force.
Energetic characteristics according to Traditional Chinese Medicine:
• He-Mare point of the Stomach meridian;
• Abdominal control point;
• Sea of Qi point;
• Earth point (Earth element of the Yang Ming – Earth of Earth meridian). Main therapeutic indications:
• Tonifies Qi and Blood (useful for asthenia, anemia, energy deficiency);
• Strengthens the Spleen and improves transformation and transportation (digestion, assimilation);
• Regulates the Stomach (gastritis, nausea, bloating, diarrhea, constipation);
• Strengthens the immune system (used to prevent seasonal illnesses);
• Calms the Shen (anxiety, insomnia, restlessness): This is a point for those who have given so much… and now must nourish themselves.
Zusanli is the point for weary mothers, for strong souls who have forgotten themselves, for those who have strayed too far from their center.
It’s a deep caress that evokes the power of the earth: silent, welcoming, present.
It reminds us that we can receive without guilt, nourish ourselves without shame, and that strength lies not in effort, but in continuity. If you feel like you’re lacking energy, if every step tires you, if you’re absorbed in your thoughts and no longer feel your body…
Sit down, breathe, and return to Zusanli.
Close your eyes, place your hands on your legs, and let the earth rise within you.
